i am too young to carry my ancestors’ pain on my back.
too young to feel the fangs of heartbreak biting at my heart
too young to harbor all this sadness,
too young to be this tired.
too young to have these eye bags,
too young to have this stress,
too young to live with grief,
too young to feel so dead
my life has just begun,
my life has just begun
18 years had seemed so far away
but here i am, at last
and now i have forever,
too young to live in the past
too young to say goodbye,
so i force out a “hello”,
in hopes that someone sees me,
and lightens up this load.

i'm not sure why this still feels relevant to this day.
